Zerkalo
A stranger approaches
through the windy field, you
explain softly, hand like smoke
on my back, what becomes
history seeps through walls,
burning rewrites, portraits
fade, children doze, never
in sequence, I could speak
about how grasshoppers
dance beside all that refuse
in the river, but the mirror
drops from the wall and you move
beyond our present ratio, only
you return, you remember,
once blades still, I could speak,
you say, unfamiliar footsteps
crunching broken glass.
