Sophie Fetokaki is a musician, writer, researcher, and islander. She is the recipient of the 2025 Iowa Review Award in nonfiction and has published poetry and creative nonfiction in the Chicago Review of Books’ magazine Arcturus, Two if By Sea Journal, Icelandic journal Ós, The Prose Poem, and elsewhere. Her libretto CAVE, commissioned and produced by Deutsche Oper Berlin, was published recently with the journal Interim. With support from the Nordic Culture Fund, she is currently building Planetary Archipelagos, a translocal artistic research project exploring the lived experience of insularity. She holds a PhD in music performance, has published on decolonising voice studies, and has conducted postdoctoral research on performing arts pedagogy at the University of the Arts, Helsinki.
