Originally published in Mexico in 2013, Manca draws on the violence of the Mexican drug war to dislocate the language of poetry through a range of strategies of voicing the unspeakable. 
 
It was named by Reforma’s distinguished critic Sergio Gonzalez Rodriguez as one of the best poetry books published that year. In 2021 it was republished in Spain in an expanded edition, and poems from this collection continue to be cited and anthologized in Mexico (most recently in Signos oscuros de mi boca extraña. Antología de poesía mexicana reciente, edited by Jorge Esquinca.)

Juana Adcock is a poet and translator working in English and Spanish. She is the author of seven poetry collections published in Mexico and the UK, including I Sugar the Bones, which was shortlisted for the Forward Prize and the Saltires, Scotland’s National Book Awards. She is co-editor of Temporary Archives: Poetry by Women of Latin America (Arc Publications) and translator of Laura Wittner's Translation of the Route (Poetry Translation Centre / Bloodaxe) and Hubert Matiuwaa’s The Dogs Dreamt (Flipped Eye). She regularly performs at literary festivals in Europe, Asia and Latin America. 
 
Robin Myers is a poet and translator. She won the 2025 National Book Award in Translated Literature for We Are Green and Trembling, by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara (New Directions), and was shortlisted for the 2025 National Translation Award in Poetry with The Brush, by Eliana Hernández-Pachón (Archipelago Books). Other recent poetry translations include What Comes Back by Javier Peñalosa M. (Copper Canyon Press), Copy by Dolores Dorantes (Wave Books), and many others. Her poetry collection Centro is forthcoming from Coffee House Press.
