Nothing Intensifies is a hybrid body of poetic works through which performative, visual and sonic elements collide. Iris Colomb writes between distance and transience, doubt and defiance, stagnation and disruption, displacement and dissolution. Nothing Intensifies presents a porous world of fragments, delays, elisions and erosions through which meaning swarms, splits and scatters.

Iris Colomb is a poet, artist, performer, curator, lecturer and translator based in London. Her practice explores various relationships between visual and verbal forms of text through projects involving performance, book objects, improvisation, and experimental translation. Iris’  individual, collaborative, interactive, and durational performance works have been showcased across the UK as well as in German, Austrian, Romanian, Norwegian, French and Chilean events and festivals. Previous publications include pamphlets I’m Shocked (Bad Betty Press),  just promise you won’t write (Gang Press), Ridiculous Unlikely Attempt (Hesterglock Press) and Where do you begin in this (Ma Bibliothèque), as well as magazines and anthologies in the UK, Europe, and beyond.  Nothing Intensifies is her first full-length poetry collection.

Nothing Intensifies. This is both true and untrue. It’s true in that from the first to the last page there’s no slack and untrue in that poem after poem grows like the accumulator bet of your dreams. Marvel at the considerable accomplishment with repetition, permutation and process: the way the poems work on the eye and ear, the way they dance, the way they throw shapes as they unfold. If you’ve only ever encountered Iris live in performance, discover her on the page. Does she play? Yes! Does she hesitate? No! Does she tire?

Never!

--Jeff Hilson

Like her powerful performances, these expansive poems by Iris Colomb are spellbinding. They transform the space of reading into a unique encounter with a language that is split apart and reshaped. Nothing Intensifies arranges poems, scores, transcriptions and images, that are not only experimental but experiential - challenging the reader to reinvent the act of reading within the pages of this vibrant collection.

Iris Colomb is a force of abstract nature, constantly challenging herself through a creative practice that is unparalleled. Her lingual acrobatics leave space for us to wander through the liminal, clutching strange, enticing units of sound. Expect multivalence and hyperdimensionality. You won't want to let go.
